Nelly Korda Claims 2021 KPMG Women's PGA Championship Title

There's a new No. 1 in the Rolex Women's Golf World Rankings.

Fresh off a victory at last week's Meijer LPGA Classic, Nelly Korda put on another incredible display of golf at the 2021 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, claiming her first major championship victory by three strokes at 19 under par, which ties the lowest total score in Championship history.

"It's amazing," Korda said. "The past few days, the battle with Lizette (Salas), it's been stressful. It's been a lot of fun, it's been stressful, it's had everything. I just can't believe it."

Korda carded a -2 (70) in Thursday's first round, but vaulted herself into contention after a blistering -9 (63) in Friday' second round, which tied the record for lowest single-round score in KPMG Women's PGA Championship history. Entering the final round tied for the lead with Lizette Salas, eagles on 5 and 12 helped Korda pull away from the pack, and she never looked back.

"I dominated a lot of the par-5s," Korda said. "I hit the ball really well. Honestly everything was on. When you look back on weeks like this, it's really special, and you don't take it for granted."

Korda's win is the first by an American since 2018, and she now becomes the first American to hold the title of World No. 1 since Stacy Lewis held the top spot in 2014.
