FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

NEW YORK (June 28, 2017)
– Today, KPMG announced that IBM Chairman, President and CEO Ginni Rometty received the third annual KPMG Inspire Greatness Award at the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit, where she shared her career experiences as an industry leader. Rometty is recognized for her role as a pioneer in technology, and for her ongoing commitment to empower and elevate the next generation of women. Previous honorees include 66th U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and LPGA legend and entrepreneur, Annika Sorenstam.

“More work needs to be done to close the women’s leadership gap across all professions, so it’s important to continue celebrating stories of barrier-breakers like Ginni Rometty,” said KPMG U.S. Chairman and CEO Lynne Doughtie. “As the first female CEOs of our respective organizations, we share a proud responsibility to pay it forward to new generations – and Ginni is a shining example. We’re delighted to recognize her accomplishments with this year’s KPMG Inspire Greatness Award,” she added.

Rometty commented: “It is a true honor to receive the KPMG Inspire Greatness Award – especially for its recognition of IBM’s pioneering record of diversity and equal opportunity. I am proud to be a steward of that legacy, which we have extended by growing the number of women in leadership positions. And I am confident that the progress to date is but prologue, paving the way for even greater heights that the women here today will reach across every sector of business and society."

Aligned with the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship’s goal of elevating women in business and golf, the KPMG Inspire Greatness Award honoree is an industry visionary who has exemplified a personal commitment to the community to empower future generations of women, and who recognizes golf as a relationship development tool. Recipients are selected by the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit advisory council with the support of the PGA of America and the LPGA. The KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit brings together top leaders in business, politics, sports, and the media to inspire the next generation of women leaders.
